Not always a subject that is easy to talk about - but funeral and sympathy work are an very important sector of floristry as it is still the one area that florists excel and supermarkets cannot! It can also be extremely comforting to be able to make tributes for family and friends who have lost loved ones - they will appreciate having someone creating their personal tributes with love and attention. From designing a garden tribute incorporating vegetables to a 3-D handbag for a glamorous lady - it is truly satisfy and creative work.
This 3 day course covers important designs in floristry work and is suitable for complete beginners or those looking to improve their skills and design knowledge.
We look at both traditional and contemporary designs - from based work to biodegradable designs (required for many woodland burial sites).
At the end of this course you will have the confidence and skills to design a wide range of funeral tributes. You take home all the designs you create during the course.

The core subjects covered on this Creative Funeral Flowers Intensive course are:
- Sprays: creating sheaves and casket spray tributes.
- Foam frames - creating 2-D shapes and bevelled ribbon edging for traditional funeral designs such as hearts, lettering and cushions.
- 3-D Designs - structure and designing. You will cut and design a 3-D shape and decorate using moss, flowers, leaves and foliage.
- Eco-friendly and biodegradable tributes - creating birch based designs.
- Bespoke designs - taking a client brief and designing a tribute.
- Costing and quotations for funeral designs.
The course includes all the flowers and materials required to complete the course along with notebook and pen to take invaluable notes. We also recommend you bring a camera to record your progress and finished designs.
Refreshments and a light lunch are provided. Please let us know if you have any specific requirements.
You will also be provided with tools to use during the course. If you wish to purchase tools, we have these available and can be purchased during the course.
We would recommend wearing comfortable shoes and clothing that you don't mind getting wet or dirty (as flowers involve a bit of both!)
This course is held at The Cambridge Flower School, Newton Hall, Newton, Cambridge CB22 7ZE.
The fee is £595.00. To confirm your place you can choose to pay either a deposit of £250.00 or the full fee. If paying a deposit the balance is due 14 days prior to the start of the course.
