Moss and the Mechanics
Wednesday 22nd June 2022
10am - 3pm
Sustainable Floristry - new for 2022 - Limited Places!
This one day course is specifically for those looking to use more eco-friendly and biodegradable with their floral designs. We are often asked about the "mechanics" of sustainable designs so we have now created a very special course to unravel what goes on behind the design without impacting the environment.
This course is not so much about design, but the bases, alternatives to foam, how to create a reusable base, how practical foam alternatives are, how to create a bouquet that is sustainable, using wooden bases, when to use chicken wire, and so many little techniques that can make all the difference!
The day is a mix of demonstration and creating:
Sustainable: what does it mean? Eco-friendly and Biodegradable
Creating moss "pads" for structures
Bases for all designs using containers, wood and creating your own structures.
Commercial product alternatives to foam
Chicken wire - when to use and how
Flowers and foliage - forage, grow, local.
You will create a bespoke natural design during the day without wires, plastic or foam to inspire you at work or home! This design can be adapted for so many uses and is the base we use ourselves at home and work. The base is completely reusable (unlike foam) so perfect for those who want to be more sustainable.
This course is suitable for those looking to become more sustainable with their floral designs.
The course includes all the flowers, foliage, sundries and containers that you need to complete the item(s).
You will also be provided with tools to use during the day. If you wish to purchase tools, we have these available and can be purchased on the day.
We suggest you bring your camera to take photos as a reminder of what you have learnt during the day.
We recommend wearing comfortable shoes and clothing that you don't mind getting wet or dirty (as flowers involve a bit of both!)
You will need to bring a packed lunch with you. Hot and cold drinks will be provided.
This course is held at The Cambridge Flower School, Newton Hall, Town Street, Newton, Cambridge CB22 7ZE.
The fee is £195.00.
You can book this course online or call us on 01223 655661.
