The Wedding Course

Level: Beginners/New Career Path

Wedding Flowers!  Yes, lots of options and where do you start?  Let us unravel the options and get you on the right path.  This is a brand new course to reflect the trends of weddings for 2024 and beyond.  All the designs use sustainable materials.

The course is suitable for any new florists or flower growers looking to develop their skills and those who have a wedding on the horizon and want some expert help and training on how to achieve the flowers for a friend's or family members wedding (when to start, how to buy and ultimately how to get started!).

The course covers:

Bridal Flowers

The Natural Bouquet:, loose, flowing and completely natural.  Looks so easy, but there is an art to creating a bouquet that is perfect for a bride.  You will learn how to create a bridal bouquet carefully selecting flowers and foliage to give the desired effect.

Buttonholes Corsages & Pocket Squares ; Learn to wire perfectly - there are some areas of floristry that are impossible to do without wire and this is where you can excel and stand out from the crowd.  We unravel the terminology and the array of wires, weights and lengths (what do you use and when?)

Flower Crowns & Hair Designs:  Create fabulous designs perfect for a romantic wedding.

The Table

You will create a wedding table scene with your fellow students looking at the different table designs you could design.   During this part of the course you will create:

A table runner of flowers and foliage for the centre of long tables.

Table options for tall and low containers and table pedestal designs.

Floor based "meadow" design, perfect to sit in front of the top table, down the aisle or as a self standing design.

Floristry Toolbox Add-on:  We have a starter Toolbox full of the tools you will need for any wedding.  This can be purchased for an additional fee of £75.00.  The toolbox will be waiting for you on the first day of the course.

We are dedicated to using sustainable materials wherever possible.  Biodegradable foam, moss and chicken wire methods are all covered during this course.

The course includes all the flowers, foliage, ribbons and containers that you need to complete the item(s).  Where individual items are created students can take them home.

We suggest you bring your camera to take photos as a reminder of what you have learnt during the course.

We would recommend wearing comfortable shoes and clothing that you don't mind getting wet or dirty (as flowers involve a bit of both!)

You will need to bring a packed lunch with you each day.

You can take home all the designs you create during the course that are individually made.

10am - 4pm each day with 45 minute break for lunch.

"Really thoroughly enjoyed it. Made to feel really comfortable as a beginner to floristry. Really well taught and demonstrated. Loved the 3 aspects to it as well I've come away knowing a lot more than I did this morning - would love to come back for another course someday soon. Thank you!."

Excellent instruction, has created so many ideas as well as challenges, certainly has made me question the way I was thinking of doing things, and excited to get things started now. Sarah was fun and entertaining in presentation and extremely informative, thanks!
