Wedding Flowers!  Yes, lots of options and with new mechanics and techniques available and changing trends it is important to make sure your skills are up to date.   Let us unravel the options for the bridal flowers and party and get you on the right path - including how to cost your bridal flowers accurately.  The bridal bouquet is one of the most important elements of the wedding - it is photographed in every main wedding picture.

From front facing bouquets to cascading wild bouquets - there are so many options available.   On the first day you will create a loose open bouquet, wild and trailing and a front facing bouquet with dancing flowers and foliage free.  We look at the importance of the principles of design, colour, recession and texture.

On Day two we will design flowers for the bridal party including a variety of buttonholes, pocket flowers, elaborate corsages and hair flower designs. Intricate designs that require skill and attention to detail.

Being able to price your designs accurately is vital.  You need to be competitive but also realistic. Time is a major factor in bridal work and we look at quoting and costing for these intricate but very important designs.

The course is suitable for those who have some/limited skills of floristry or flower arranging or looking to update their skills.  This is the perfect opportunity to experiment and try out new ideas with the tutor by your side to guide you.

Course Content

The course covers:

Bridal Flowers

Bouquets:, loose, flowing and completely natural or front facing with dancing flowers and no foliage?  Just the start of what you might be asked to design for a bride.   You will learn how to create a bridal bouquet carefully selecting flowers and foliage to give the desired effect.  We will look at the structure of a variety of bouquets, the current trends, flower varieties and working with colour.

Buttonholes, Corsages & Pocket Squares ; Learn to wire perfectly - there are some areas of floristry that are impossible to do without wire and this is where you can excel and stand out from the crowd.  We unravel the terminology and the array of wires, weights and lengths (what do you use and when?).

Flower Crowns & Hair Designs:  Create fabulous designs perfect for a romantic wedding from full flower crowns to hair corsages and single flowers.

Costings:  It is important to understand the time element of costing these designs.  We spend valuable time looking at the fees for wedding flowers.

"Really thoroughly enjoyed it. Made to feel really comfortable as a beginner to floristry. Really well taught and demonstrated. Loved the 3 aspects to it as well I've come away knowing a lot more than I did this morning - would love to come back for another course someday soon. Thank you!."

Excellent instruction, has created so many ideas as well as challenges, certainly has made me question the way I was thinking of doing things, and excited to get things started now. Sarah was fun and entertaining in presentation and extremely informative, thanks!
