Wedding season is fast approaching, but since 2022 there has been an exciting shift in the wedding landscape – the newfound freedom to tie the knot outdoors!  At present you can get married outdoors as long is it is in the grounds of a venue that is licenced.

However, there are still further reforms under review which would allow weddings to take place anywhere (there will be some restrictions I am sure!). The person who is conducting the civil ceremony will hold the licence, not the venue.  This, should it come to fruition, mean that you could get married in your own garden or on the beach with a registrar or celebrant officiating at the nuptials.

Religious marriage (in the Church of England, Church of Wales or other religious building) will still be held indoors.  These changes only apply to civil marriages.

This will offer an opportunity for florists to transform unconventional locations into enchanting settings for the day.

In the past, weddings were often confined to churches, banquet halls, or hotels. The ability to exchange vows amidst nature's beauty – in gardens, parks, vineyards, or even on the beach, will open doors for florists to unleash their creativity and infuse these venues with unparalleled charm.  It also means that types of designs will ultimately change.

One of the most exciting aspects of decorating new outside venues is the chance to work with diverse surroundings and embrace the natural elements. Florists can play with seasonal flowers, incorporating vibrant hues and textures that complement the surroundings and enhance the couple's chosen theme. Each outdoor venue offers its own canvas for florists to paint their masterpiece, ensuring that every wedding becomes a truly unique and unforgettable experience.

As we eagerly anticipate the arrival of spring and summer, florists across the globe are gearing up to embrace the possibilities that new venues bring!
