Level: Beginners/New Career Path

So you would like to become a wedding florist and offer your creative services to brides?  This is the perfect starting place for those that are new to floristry or new to wedding floristry.  Completely different to general floristry, designing flowers for a wedding is all about creativity, working with your clients and perfect planning!
Of course, the creative side is only part of the picture.  Just as important is to understand how to order flowers, how much to order and the cost of your materials.  We show you how!
The course covers:

Bridal Flowers
The Natural Bouquet; loose, flowing and completely natural.  Looks so easy, but there is an art to creating a bouquet that is perfect for a bride.  You will learn how to create a bridal bouquet carefully selecting flowers and foliage to give the desired effect.

Buttonholes, Corsages & Pocket Squares; Learn to wire perfectly - there are some areas of floristry that are impossible to do without wire and this is where you can excel and stand out from the crowd.  We unravel the terminology and the array of wires, weights and lengths (what do you use and when?)

Flower Crowns & Hair Designs;  Create fabulous designs perfect for a romantic wedding.

Venue Decoration
You will create a wedding table scene with your fellow students looking at the different table designs you could design.   During this part of the course you will create:

Table options for different venues; there really are so many options!  You will learn how to design and create (and suggest) options that will suit the venue.    From a tablescape that looks as if it has been picked from a meadow to luxurious footed designs.

Floor based "meadow" design; perfect to sit in front of the top table, down the aisle or as a self standing design.  These flexible designs are here to stay and the fundamental skills you will learn are so useful for a many other designs.

Wedding Flowers - the business; From initial enquiry through to creating a quotation (and the quantifying and ordering that go between), we will guide through the process.  After all, this is a business and not a hobby!

DETAILS

We are dedicated to using sustainable materials throughout all our courses.
The course includes all the flowers, foliage, ribbons and containers that you need to complete the item(s).  Where individual items are created students can take them home.

We suggest you bring your camera to take photos as a reminder of what you have learnt during the course.

We would recommend wearing comfortable shoes and clothing that you don't mind getting wet or dirty (as flowers involve a bit of both!)

You will need to bring a packed lunch with you each day.

You can take home all the designs you create during the course that are individually made.

Times
10am - 4pm each day with 45 minute break for lunch.

"Really thoroughly enjoyed it. Made to feel really comfortable as a beginner to floristry. Really well taught and demonstrated. Loved the 3 aspects to it as well I've come away knowing a lot more than I did this morning - would love to come back for another course someday soon. Thank you!."
— Sarah Parry | Floristry Taster Day
Excellent instruction, has created so many ideas as well as challenges, certainly has made me question the way I was thinking of doing things, and excited to get things started now. Sarah was fun and entertaining in presentation and extremely informative, thanks!
