Floriography - the language of flowers
If you think of red roses then the likelihood is that you associate them as a symbol of love, but did you know that there are many more flowers with a meaning. In Victorian times open flirting was not allowed and to attract someone's attention was somewhat difficult! Using flowers however, was a way of getting your message across.
If you are planning a wedding then use Ivy as it means wedded love and fidelity!
Here are just a few:
Sunflowers means you admire that person
Gardenias are for a "secret love"
Lavender wishes the recipient good luck
Chrysanthemum for a wonderful friend
and the one I like most and probably most obvious, Mistletoe- kiss me!
