We love finding out how students are progressing with their new floristry businesses - and try to keep in contact with as many as we can!  Here is a recent story from Angela, a student who attended the Floristry Career Course back in September 2024.

Angela Wheatley is now immersed in her new creative career running Rutland Florals in the gorgeous county of Rutland, having completely changed direction, working as an accountant in her previous career – and loving it!

Having grown flowers for her own wedding and then creating the designs, Angela realised that deep in her roots (her nan was a florist), this was something she wanted to do professionallyAngela joined the Floristry Career Course in September 2024 and has not looked back since.

Angela’s goal has always been to make floristry her main income sourceThis takes dedication, practice, marketing and a professional online presence – details that Angela has excelled in over the past six months.

Specialising in Weddings and Events, and with 10 weddings already booked for this year and more for 2026, Rutland Florals is growingWe particularly love the advice given to brides about budgets, planning and choosing flowers for their wedding.

Working floristry around a young family is all possible – Angela has a young sonWedding work also gives you the flexibility as each wedding is a planned project.

With the support from her mum as “Saturday girl” and working with her husband (who runs a gardening business), this approachable, professional and friendly florist is going far!

Take a look for yourself and be inspired.
