A three day course designed for anyone looking to offer wedding, event or venue installations. This course is so much more than flowers, it is the structure behind a design and the planning that is required to implement these large-scale architectural designs.
There is huge scope for set dressing and creating large scale designs to bring colour, texture and focus to a venue. Whether you are a florist, event planner, venue or party planner you will find this in-person course full of ideas for your own projects.
All of the designs you will create use fully sustainable construction methods. We use a variety of materials and tools including chicken wire, moss, biodegradable and compostable materials and so much more.
You will work individually and in groups to create the designs (as many scale events are impossible to decorate on your own), from planning, logistics to implementation making the three days as realistic as possible. You will leave full of confidence to cope with any venue, marquee or large scale event. This is an ideal opportunity to enhance your portfolio of work.
Led by our creative and experienced team of tutors (who also happen to be working florists with real life stories of working in barns, country houses and marquees) you will learn from real life experiences and work on designs that you will be asked to recreate.
One day is spent on-site at a local wedding venue giving you insight into the reality of working away from your own studio and how to prepare for installation and dismantling.
We incorporate, fresh, silk and dried to ensure you have the opportunity to work with mediums that you may not have worked with before.

Course Content
During the 3 days you will work on the
following designs using different methods of construction :
- Large scale garden style pedestal & urn
- 3-D sculptured installation creating asymmetrical columns flowing down into floor meadows & individual floor designs.
- Working with different mechanics (bio, chicken wire, vases, trays, planters - the list is endless!).
- Suspended installations
- Dramatic table drapes
- Grouped contemporary plinth designs
- Managing the project
- Venue and logistics
- Installation and deconstruction
You will leave full of confidence to cope
with any venue, marquee or large scale event.

The fee is £875.00. A Deposit of £300.00 is payable to secure your place. The balance is due one month prior to the start of the course. If the course starts within one month of booking then the full fee is payable at the time of booking.
Once you have booked your place(s) we will email you further details of the course including a location map with how to find the venue.
Course Information
The course includes all the flowers, foliage, sundries and containers that you need to complete the item(s).
You will also be provided with tools to use during the course. If you wish to purchase tools, we have these available and can be purchased on the day.
We suggest you bring your camera to take photos as a reminder of what you have learnt during the day.
You will need to wear flat, comfortable shoes (trainers) and clothing that you don't mind getting wet or dirty. This is a physical course with lifting and carrying.
This course is held at The Cambridge Flower School, Old Grain Store, Ely Road, Chittering, Cambridge CB25 9PH.
You will need to bring a packed lunch with you each day.
