The changing shape of bridal bouquets

We recently had some books donated to the school from the early 80s. The younger members of the team were shocked to see that some of the designs that we’d call “contemporary” flowers today were popular 40 years ago. Like fashion, floral designs follow a pattern and designs that we may have dismissed as dated 10 years ago are now back in fashion.

This is great news for florists! In the same way structured round bridal bouquets were replaced with requests for more whimsical designs, new trends give florists the space to be creative and test their skills. 

It does however also test us. Where a florist has been confident creating bridal bouquets in a particular style, consumer demand is asking for something new, and this takes learning and practise.
