The last thing you can do ...
I have loved being a florist, but the absolute best bit has been designing tributes for families and friends who want to say goodbye to a loved one. Funeral designs are the most creative area of floristry - yes, really! When else are you going to be able to take the loves of a person, whether it be their garden or their best canine friend and turn it into a fitting tribute?
It is also the one area on which supermarkets have not encroached (yes, supermarkets do wedding flowers - not bespoke, lovingly created ones, but they do offer a "package").
For us as artisan florists we need to use our skills - like anything if you keep churning out the same old designs day after day you not only lose your creative skills, but it actually becomes a bit boring. The more creative you are the more you will want to use them.
If you are a new florist and want to offer a full range of services - are your skills fully capable of recreating "Fido the dog" in flowers, in 3-D?
Funeral flowers are personal - make sure you have the skills to design whatever is required! I promise you will find it so rewarding.
