MasterClass - Sustainable Floristry
Thursday 4th February 2027
10am - 3.30pm
No foam floristry- unravel, trial and experiment without using traditional foam. We take an in-depth look at the realities of sustainable floristry. What is really possible?
This one day course is specifically for those looking to use more eco-friendly and biodegradable with their floral designs, whether it is weddings or funerals. We are often asked about the "mechanics" of sustainable designs. This course aims to unravel what goes on behind the design without impacting the environment.
This course is not so much about design, but the bases, alternatives to foam, how to create a reusable base, how practical foam alternatives are, using wooden bases, when to use chicken wire, and so many little techniques that can make all the difference!
The day is a mix of demonstration and hands on experimentation.
Sustainable: what does it mean? Eco-friendly, Biodegradable , Compostable, Reusable.
Bases for all designs using containers, wood.
Building natural bases
Commercial product alternatives to foam
Chicken wire - when to use and how.
Frogs - the practicalities of using frogs in commercial floristry.
Flowers and foliage - forage, grow, local.
You will create a bespoke natural design choosing your own sustainable base. The choice is yours and will get the chance to experiment with different mechanics, methods and materials.
This course is suitable for those looking to become more sustainable with their floral designs. Ideal for working florists but also anyone designing church flowers or enthusiastic beginners!

"I absolutely loved it. It was the perfect amount of hands-on education and learning. I would recommend to anyone interested and absolutely will be back!"
"Really thoroughly enjoyed it. Made to feel really comfortable as a beginner to floristry. Really well taught and demonstrated. Loved the 3 aspects to it as well I've come away knowing a lot more than I did this morning - would love to come back for another course someday soon. Thank you!."
Loved this workshop. Really friendly and therapeutic to come to this class. I am a complete beginner but felt that didn't matter at all.
Absolutely loved it. Didn't want it to end. Hungry to learn more and loved the friendly atmosphere. Excellent tutoring, very patient and happy to explain a second time. I'll be back!
