Primrose & Grace
Izzy joined us on the Floristry Career Course in October 2025, having made the
decision to make a big life change and pursue floristry as a career. She has now
launched her own business, and is working as a freelance florist.
“After a lot of research about floristry training I found the Floristry Career Course at
The Cambridge Flower School. I wanted a course that would teach me relevant,
industry-led and practical floristry skills, alongside learning about the wider industry
and the business side of being a florist. The course met all these needs, and as a
bonus it was relatively local to me. The course looked engaging and varied, and the
fact that most of the team had made a career change themselves into floristry made
it extra appealing.
I am now working as a freelance florist and have launched my own business,
Primrose & Grace, which offers both freelance floral support, and small, bespoke
commissions.
I particularly enjoy the variety freelancing brings. From working in a beautiful shop and other florists' studios, to being on site at events, no two days are ever the same and I am constantly learning from the talented florists I work alongside. As a mother to two
little girls, freelancing offers the flexibility I need to balance work and family life. The
last few months have been a rewarding mix of hands-on experience, business
planning, and refining my own creative aesthetic and I've loved every minute.
When I first booked the course I knew I wanted to pursue floristry but I never
imagined that I would leave and quickly feel confident enough to launch my own
business. As well as freelancing, I'm starting to take on my own small commissions. Having successfully delivered the flowers for my first solo wedding last
December, I have just kicked off the summer season with a busy wedding weekend, styling the space with beautiful designs created with a variety foliage and herbs. I'm also currently drafting an exciting proposal for a celebration in December. I am really looking forward to freelancing during the busy summer wedding season, as well as continuing to grow my network and refine my own style.
I highly recommend the course to anyone who knows they want to pursue a career
in floristry but doesn't quite know how or where to start. The course was informative,
creative and fun and I came away feeling so inspired, motived and excited. As well
as the practical floristry training, the course gave me tools and ideas, and an insight
into the realities of working in the floristry industry. “
